Mr & Mrs Bund (Shanghai)

Located in the famous Shanghai’s riverside, The Bund, at the Bund 18, this restaurant proposes an interesting and contemporary interpretation of french cousine under the guidance of Chef Paul Pairet. The food is superb, the ambiance is casual but sophisticated. While you stay at Mr&Mrs Bund you could be in Paris or in New York, then, watching outside the windows or from the nice terrace, you look at the Shanghai skyline with its Pearl Tower or the World Financial Center and you realize why this place is among the world’s 50 best restaurants (it ranked n. 43 in the 2013 list).

I opted for an a la carte solution:

  • Foie Gras Light Crumble: an amazing mousse of Duck Foie Gras with a crust of raisin and hazelnut)

  • Black cod in the bag: one of the “signature” dishes of Paul Pairet. It’s a black cod fish simmered in a heat proof bag and served with rice. It comes to your table still in the bag. The preparation of your plate is fascinating. I loved it! I chose Mashed potato and butter (Mash Tradition) as side dish.

  • Lemon & Lemon Tart : maybe the most famous Paul Pairet’s signature dish. It’s a very sophisticated dessert made of a candied whole lemon with a heart of lemon sorbet, lemon curd, vanilla chantilly and sablé. Definitely the standout dish of the selection.

In my opinion an outstanding experience: innovation, excellent technique, superb ingredients, good level of service.
